Roberto Dabdoub (born Roberto Dabdoub Sosa, October 31, 1954) Is a Honduran-born American [1] genetic scientist [2] who became a writer and photographer. He is best known for his work in Photomicrography and Electrophotography.

Using a microscope and objects both familiar and bizarre, he captures images of beauty mixing science and photography, through a revolutionary process of photomicrography. His work is an examination of the relationship between art and science. His vision yields a vividly abstract look into the world on its smallest level.

Dabdoub's images have been featured on many popular publications in the USA and abroad and the subject of a special report in CNN (1978). Many of his images were used to sport a variety of fashion designs and to the creation of the neckwear line "Micro Shots" 1980 [3] by “Wemco”. One of the world's Largest manufacturers of neckwear. The neckwear was also sold under other designers labels, such as Jesuis, 7TH Avenue, Wembley, and Oscar de la Renta. His name and the description of the product were written on the label of every necktie and fashion product made. In 1977, he combined a high-frequency generator-oscillator in a compound microscope. He used this devise to capture many of his molecular designs. His photographs are included in the permanent collection of the New Orleans Museum of Art, [4] published in "World" The National Geographic Society[5] and the subject of a hard cover book "Micro Art" [6] by Pelican Publishing Co. The book was presented at NOMA, in 2003. He donated all proceeds from the sale of his images and designs to cancer and AIDS research. In his early 30s, Dabdoub became a columnist for "Dixie”, the New Orleans Times Picayune[7] Sunday Magazine. He also contributed articles and photographs to the newspaper.

Supervised and helped to establish the Genetic/Cytogenetics Laboratory. Did Pioneering work in tissue culture and chromosome banding techniques, leading to the implementation of highly specific genetic testing, such as that of sister chromatid exchange, fragile X, (ph1) Philadelphia chromosome, chromosomal breakage and fluorescent banding studies. The use of electro photography and other non-conventional techniques for experimentation and evaluation. Cytogenetics was in the early stages of development and I was allowed by the chairman of the department the freedom to express creativity and innovation. (TOKYO) _ Roberto Dabdoub, PhD (kb5avy) today was named the recipient of the W. Sandy Lynch Memorial Award, given annually by the Tokyo International Amateur Radio Association (TIARA).

For 20 years, Dr. Dabdoub, a General Class ham struggled to keep four reporters on the air in the New Orleans area with little assistance from other. one of his repeaters became the only machine to remain working in the metro area following Hurricane Katrina. His system was the only link, for a critical period, among the Baton Rouge emergency center, and other relief and emergency centers involved in critical rescue work.

Molecular and cytogenetic analyses were performed on chronic B-lymphocytic cell leukemia (CLL) from a 57-year-old male patient with del(12)(p13) anomaly. The deletion did not remove the K-ras-2 gene. However, c-myc gene amplification correlated with high-level expression, suggesting the involvement of this gene in the induction of neoplasia in this patient.

HIV-1 infected individuals have significantly increased risk of developing a variety of different neoplastic diseases. However, the mechanism(s) of these HIV-associated neoplasms is not clearly understood. A number of previous studies have been aimed at understanding the role of the viral encoded proteins in HIV pathogenesis. One amongst these is the transactivator Tat, a small 86-amino acid protein encoded by two exons. There is considerable evidence that in addition to its role in HIV-1 gene expression and replication, Tat can modulate the expression of a variety of cellular genes and alter cellular functions.
